Plan backwards from serve time
Set the time dinner hits the table and Simmer schedules every prep, cook and rest step to finish together.
Cooking timeline app for iPhone, iPad & Android
Simmer is a meal timing planner that works backwards from when you want to eat. See the prep, cook and rest steps for every dish on one timeline, so the roast, the potatoes, the veg and the gravy are all ready at the same moment.
Available now on the App Store. Coming soon to Google Play.
Pick when you want to eat. Everything else works back from there.
No more juggling five kitchen timers and a scribbled note.
A live line shows what should be happening right now.
Features
Cooking a big meal is a juggling act. Simmer does one job well: working out when to start each step so nothing is cold, burnt or late.
Set the time dinner hits the table and Simmer schedules every prep, cook and rest step to finish together.
Each dish gets its own column on a vertical timeline made for your phone. Spot clashes and busy moments before they happen.
Move a step by dragging it. Stretch its top or bottom edge to change how long it takes. Add or remove dishes and steps with a tap.
Paste a link from your favourite recipe site. Simmer finds the timings in the method, such as "roast for 1 hr 20 mins", and lays them out for you.
While you cook, a current-time line moves down the timeline, so you always know what to start, flip, baste or rest next.
Save a plan and reuse it. Sunday roast, Christmas dinner, a dinner party menu: plan it once and use it again.
How it works
Tell Simmer when you want to eat, say 7:30 PM.
Add each dish by hand or import it from a recipe link. Prep, cook and rest steps are placed automatically.
Follow the timeline. Simmer shows you what to start and when, so everything lands on the plate hot.
Whenever several dishes need to be ready at once, Simmer takes the stress out of the timings.

Work backwards from the time you want to eat. In Simmer you set the serve time, add each dish (meat, potatoes, veg, gravy, Yorkshire puddings) with its prep, cook and rest times, and the timeline shows exactly when to start each step so everything finishes at the same moment.
No. Simmer does not store recipe instructions. It does one job: working out the timings across every dish in a meal so you know what to start, and when.
Paste a link from a recipe website. Simmer reads the recipe data most sites publish, finds the durations in each method step (for example "roast for 1 hr 20 mins"), works out whether each is prep, cook or rest, and lays them out to finish at your serve time. It runs on your phone, with no AI service or server involved.

Privacy
Last updated: 26 October 2026
In short: Simmer does not collect, store or share any of your personal data. Everything you create stays on your device.
This policy explains how the Simmer app for iPhone, iPad and Android ("Simmer", "the app") handles your information. Simmer is made by Pendragon Development ("we", "us").
None. Simmer has no accounts or sign-in, and does not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, device identifiers or any other personal information. We have no servers that receive data from the app.
The meal plans you create and save, and your app settings, are stored only in the app's own storage on your device. We cannot see or access them. They are deleted when you delete the app. If you use your device's own backup service (such as iCloud Backup or Google backup), this data may be included in those backups, which are handled under Apple's or Google's privacy policies.
Simmer works offline. The only time it connects to the internet is when you choose to import a recipe by pasting a link. Your device then downloads that recipe page directly from the website you chose, the same way a web browser would. That website will receive a normal web request, including your device's IP address, and its own privacy policy applies. The link and the recipe are processed entirely on your device and are never sent to us or to any other service.
As we do not collect any personal information, we do not sell, share or transfer it to anyone.
Simmer does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. You can remove all of Simmer's data at any time by deleting the app.
If Simmer's handling of data ever changes, we will update this page and the date above before the change reaches the app.

Simmer is free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, and coming soon to Android.
